Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta
This morning you depart Nairobi and proceed north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Serena camp. Sweetwaters land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi.
You visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya.
Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so you’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight.
Day 2: Explore Ol Pejeta
Today you will spend the day exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The rangers on Ol Pejeta know the 90,000 acres like the back of their hands, they know the routes, the best places to see wildlife and a lot of fascinating information about the difference species. With them you will get up close and personal with the sights, smells and sounds of the African bush.
After breakfast you will participate in a thrilling rhino tracking experience. Join expert guides as you track both black and white rhinos on foot, learning about their behaviors and conservation challenges.
In the afternoon you will take a guided bush walk to further explore the flora and fauna of Ol Pejeta. Get to learn about the smaller creatures and plants that contribute to the ecosystem.
Day 3: Sweet Waters Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru
You will have an early morning breakfast and check out for Lake Nakuru. Your first glimpse of Lake Nakuru is almost unbelievable, as a sparkling, blue lake materializes before your eyes, its shoreline an explosion of cherry blossom pink. These rosy hues are owed not to flowers, but to flamingos. Millions of these blush- coloured fowl line the coastline.
An afternoon game drive introduces you to flamingos. More than 400 bird species reside in Lake Nakuru National Reserve, which shares its lands with endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, black rhinos, white rhinos, lions, buffalos and baboons, among other incredible animals.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara
You will have breakfast and at 7:00 a.m we’ll depart from Lake Nakuru for Naivasha. We will arrive just on time for you to take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha; bird-watching is the biggest draw of Naivasha, and the best way to see the beautiful winged creatures. Your boatman will likely show you how eagles prey on fishes on the lake.
You will then leave Lake Naivasha for Maasai Mara. You will pass through Narok Town, a famous Maasai town as you make your way to Maasai Mara arriving just in time for check in and a late lunch, and an evening game drive if you are up for it. The Maasai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November.
There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians, and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve.
Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino).
Day 5: Explore Maasai Mara, Full Day Game Drive
Full-day game drives depart at 7.00 am, with your 4×4 fully equipped to cross the Mara plains in search of game. At 1800 meters above sea level it can get cold before the sun rises fully, so we provide blankets and hot water bottles to keep you warm.
By midday, it can become very hot indeed and sun-block lotion and hats are advised. Lunch is served under the shade of an Acacia tree or overlooking the snorting hippos which wallow in the Mara River.
As the afternoon draws to a close and the temperature cools, the shadows lengthen and the Bush changes once more. Evening sightings of rhinos are quite common on the way back to camp. Even a bad day is a good day in the Mara since undoubtedly you will have encountered vistas, flora, and fauna new to you.
Day 6: Explore Maasai Mara
Morning and Evening Game Drive Experiences
If you start first thing in the morning, you are likely to find the Mara at its most active. With the sun rising at around 6.00 am, this means an early start to your day. The reward is likely to be the sight of predators who avoid the heat: additional attractions include subtle light on the landscape and the joyous sounds of awakening birds, you return for a hearty breakfast at the camp after 9.00 am.
At around 4.30 pm, we like to explore our own Conservancy, as the cooling temperature brings out the predators. Lion-kills are often fought over by packs of hyenas, jackals, and other scavengers. Yet these life and death scenes are juxtaposed with the impossible beauties of the African sunset, as nature’s ever-changing palette streaks the sky with orange, red, and gold.
Anticipating sunset, your guide will have stopped to prepare sundowners, with a wide choice of drinks. Clasp your favorite drink, ease back in your chair, and watch light shift to dark, heat gives way to the chill.
Day 7: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Some of the activities include visiting the Giraffe Center and get a chance to see and feed the famous Rothschild Giraffe and her family. Visiting Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where you visit orphaned Elephants and the baby rhinos with an opportunity to make a donation. You will spend one hour during the baby’s feeding time and you can watch them romp and play in the mud, while listening to the informative guides speak about the elephants and the work of the orphanage. Visit Karen Blixen Museum which was, for many years, the home of Karen of the “Out of Africa” fame. You can also choose to visit the Maasai Market which is an informal gathering of vendors with crafts, fabrics and materials made with local artistry and wonderful designs, very good for shopping.
