Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha
Arrive in Arusha, the gateway to the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. Arusha is a great place, easy to get around in and about as laid back as an African city can be. Enjoy a good piece of cake and a decent cup of tea or coffee in one of the town’s cafes. You will then check in to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you will depart Arusha and travel to Lake Manyara. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment the park is recognized for its incredible beauty. You can see many game animals such as buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo and more. Eventually you will arrive and stay overnight at beautiful Kirurumu Manyara Lodge. Ernest Hemingway once called Lake Manyara the “The loveliest lake in Africa”. The national park is home to the unique tree-climbing lions, which you’ll have the chance to see lounging in the high tree branches as you take part in your game drives.
Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you will make your way to Serengeti National Park. Along your journey you will have plenty to see on the way including grazing zebra, antelope, giraffe and sometimes buffalo hiding in the bush. The South Serengeti ecosystem belongs partly to the Serengeti National park and partly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, monkey, baboon, hippo, rhino, antelope and many birds. Upon arrival at the Serengeti National Park you will drive to your lodge where you will have dinner and check-in for the night.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
You will get an early start today with a sunrise game drive to see nocturnal predators returning from the hunt and other animals waking up in the early morning light. You will take breakfast boxes with you and have a bush breakfast when the sun is up before you visit the interesting documentation center about Serengeti at Seronera. After this exciting game drive you will return to the lodge for a relaxed lunch under the shade of an old acacia tree. In the afternoon you can go out again on a game drive or undertake a nature walk around the camp with some resident tribesmen who will share their knowledge of plants and animals surrounding them and show you the use of a traditional bow and arrow for hunting. Later in the day you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
You will take part in a sunrise game drive to see animals as they go out to hunt or return from their night hunt. You will return for breakfast and then check-out heading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will stop at the Olduvai Gorge where anthropologists Louis and Mary Leakey made significant discoveries, contributing to the theory that human life originated in Africa. You will arrive and descend into the crater for an afternoon game drive with a picnic lunch to enjoy inside the crater. This crater has a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals. As only very few of those migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, hippo, flamingo, jackal, rhino, antelope, and a wide variety of birds and other species. The crater is home to the rare black rhino which is almost extinct in Tanzania.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you will check-out and depart for Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is the third largest national park and sanctuary with an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. You will notice animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, and cheetah and up to six thousand elephants.
Day 7: Tarangire National Park to Amboseli National Park
You will rise early for a sunrise game drive before returning for breakfast and check out. You will then drive from Tarangire National Park to Amboseli. By name, Amboseli is probably lesser known than the Maasai Mara, however with its position at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro it’s probably the most iconic and visually stunning safari in the world. You will arrive in Amboseli in the late afternoon and check-in at your lodge where you will have dinner and turn in for the night.
Day 8: Amboseli National Park
You will have two game drives scheduled for this day. After breakfast you will take off for the morning game drive on the open flat plains; the ideal place to search for prides of lion, buffalo, cheetah, zebra , and wildebeest. The swamps are good places to catch the elephant as they bath in the mud. There is a wealth and diversity of bird species to see as well. Ensure your camera has a liberal memory card since Africa has few better blends of untamed life and landscape. The Royal Court of Kilimanjaro is best known for its views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and its expansive crowds of free-wandering elephant. You can also visit Maasai Manyatta Village where you can take in more about Africa’s most renowned tribal society. Later in the day you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 9: Amboseli National Park to Tsavo West National park
You will rise for an early morning game drive in the park. Weather permitting the clouds will shear off, leaving you mesmerized by the majesty of Mt. Kilimanjaro and its gleaming snow capped peaks.
You will return to camp for breakfast and then check-out and travel to Tsavo West National Park, enjoying another exciting game drive along the safari route. You will arrive at your lodge for a welcome shower and refreshments. After some rest and lunch you will take off for an afternoon game drive in search of rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, lion, wild dog and many more. The park terrain is hilly and craggy. The scenery is dramatic and the sense of adventure more pronounced. Later in the day you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 10: Tsavo West National Park to Mombasa
After breakfast you will take off for an early morning game drive in search of predators and grazers. Extra game viewing is an option with a visit to the Mzima Springs. At the springs, crystal clear waters emanate from the ground creating an oasis in this relatively dry region. You will see hippo, crocodile, and exotic fish together with unique migratory and resident bird species. Later in the afternoon you will return to the lodge to check-out and then travel to the Kenya coast beach resorts of Mombasa/Diani.
Day 11: Diani
You will explore the city of Mombasa on the Swahili coast. Mombasa and indeed all of the Swahili coastal area have a distinctively different feel than the inland towns and cities. This difference comes from the strong Arabic, Indian and European influences, due to their position on the trade routes.
These influences can be found in everything from the architecture to the food and even the religion. On vacation in Diani Beach, a bustling resort town on Kenya’s eastern coast, you can take advantage of a pristine sandy shore fringed by a verdant forest. Diani Beach attracts a variety of travelers from families with children, young couples, surfers and partygoers. Besides snorkeling, kitesurfing, and other water sports, popular activities include trips to the nearby nature and day tours of Mombasa.
After today’s activities you will return to your villa for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 12: Diani
Today’s adventures include several options from your choice of relaxation on the beach or snorkeling at your choice of four places:
Mwanamochi – An exciting coral head on the reef that often has huge amounts of small reef fish. We often see turtles and sometimes the odd manta ray on the dive.
Kisima Mungu – A long drift dive on a gently sloping reef. Although not very rich in coral life it is well known for sightings of seldom seen fish such as ghost pipefish, guitar rays, leaf fish, turtles, and very occasionally whitetips lying in the sand further out from the reef.
MFV Funguo – a craft that ran aground on the reef outside Kilindini Harbor. She was salvaged and was then sunk by Diving The Crab and Dream Diving or
Kaskazi – an artificial reef off Diani Beach. A must for any experience diver. Nitrox recommended.
Later in the evening after your choice of activity, you will return to the villas for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 13: Mombasa
After breakfast you will take off for one of the most famous excursions in Kenya, the Dolphin Safari to Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park. Private traditional Arab Dhow will take you to the marine park where there is an approximately 90% chance to spot dolphin. You then snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals, exotic fish and sea plants are protected. Assistance is provided to first timers and non-swimmers. Back on board you can refresh yourself with a variety of fruits and soft drinks as you sail to Wasini Island, where lunch is waiting for you at the “Coral Spirit Restaurant”.
You can choose from seafood, vegetarian or chicken. After lunch you have the option to take a discovery stroll through the Island and its Swahili culture, visiting the beautiful coral garden and the mangrove forest. Our guide will give you an in-depth orientation throughout the tour. Later on you will return to the villas for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 14: Diani
After breakfast you will go diving the Crab. Established in 1985 when the first school was opened at Jadini Beach Hotel. Our tour provides a professional and dedicated service to our clients and is known worldwide. We are extremely privileged to be operating on Kenya’s south coast, where the Idyllic Indian Ocean provides warm hospitable waters, teeming with marine life. Often on our way to dive sites the boat will slow down to play with a school of friendly dolphins or the gentlest of giants, the whale shark. You can take part in the “Open Water Diver” course. This is a comprehensive beginners course involving 5 theory lessons, 5 pool lessons, 4 open water dives and a snorkel session. At the end a written test is completed and if passed the Open Water Diver licence is awarded. This licence entitles a person to dive worldwide without direct instructor supervision. After today’s activities, you will return to the villas for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 15: Diani to Mombasa Airport
Today will mark the end of your vacation to East Africa’s finest. After breakfast you will check-out of the villas and depending on your flight time, you will be taken to the airport for your departing flight, marking the end of our services.
